California Poppy Reserve

Last week we took a day trip to Antelope Valley to see the California Poppy Reserve...
It was a blessing! Everyone should definitely get out of the city and discharge everything urban for a day or two every once in a while!
You can see the happiness on our faces.

After some time in the open and clean air, we were very hungry and we all wanted to find a place that was authentic, local and original... We were so lucky to find Crazy Otto's Diner on 20th street in Lancaster!
I'm not going to claim that the food is healthy, but it is delicious. The portions are RIDICULOUS. Most of us had the prime rib and eggs, which was very tasty. We didn't realize what we were getting into! You can share a plate with another person, and you would be totally full. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Scenes from Los Angeles Part 2

On the SW corner of Santa Monica Blvd. & Butler Ave. there is a Masonic Temple.  The south wall of that building is looking its parking lot has a very faint painting on.  I had to bring it up a little on post so you can see it.  Seeing how the freeway depicted on the wall was ending on a cliff above the ocean was eerie as the building was only a few blocks away from the 405 Freeway.  I guess the artist already had the "big one" and burried parts of California under the Pacific Ocean!
Everytime I pass from the Overland Ave. in the Palms neighborhood in Culver City, the poor and unfortunate choice of name for this building's name cracks me up. Now, it may be the family name or something, and I don't mean to insult anyone, but it's really funny to me!

KatieGirl

Our little kittie Katie has an important vet appointment today.
I just wanted the blog to be about her (and her son).
So, here are three fresh pics of Katie and one picture of Nile.

She'll be fine :o)

New Lens

I ordered two lenses online and I was expecting them on Wednesday.
I had plans for the Wednesday evening, yet I waited for the UPS guy as much as I can, but he never showed up so I left home around 536pm.. I came home to find an email in my inbox informing me that he came in at 547pm.
Grrrreat!!!
So I was very determined to get my paws on these lenses today (Thursday) and UPS came in at 719pm.
Yes, I did look at my watch.
One of these lenses is a Nikon Nikkor 105mm, f2.8.
The moment this prime lens was in my hands, I was in heaven.
Photographers would understand the feeling, and kids get it usually at the candy store, you know.

I HAD to take some pictures using this lens, but any picture wouldn't do.

The pictures had to have a meaning.

Not only did they have to immortalize the day, but also accentuate the importance of this turning point in my career...

So I snapped the following shots.

I am back with fresh pics and I intend to continue that way :o)
